Short answer
The best way to compare professional lymphatic drainage devices is by four criteria: fit (size range, trousers, cuffs or suit), chamber layout (not just the number, but arrangement and adjustability), operation (programmes without constant supervision) and cleaning (feasible between two appointments with a fixed hygiene plan). Chamber count alone says little, a test run with your team says more.

What makes a professional lymphatic drainage device
A lymphatic drainage device comparison should not stop at chamber count: for a professional lymphatic drainage device, fit, chamber layout, operation and cleaning are what matter.
Machine-based lymphatic drainage, also called pressotherapy, works with air chambers that inflate and deflate in sequence. For operators, the principle matters less than whether a system can handle commercial day-to-day use: many clients, different body sizes, short changeover times.
Home devices are designed for one person and occasional use. In a studio, other things count: a range of sizes, durable materials, reproducible programmes and cleaning that is realistic between two appointments.
An important distinction: in a wellness or studio setting, machine lymphatic drainage is a relaxation and wellbeing application, not lymphatic therapy. Medical treatment of lymphoedema belongs with physicians and physiotherapists using approved medical devices.

Fit: trousers, cuffs or full suit?
Fit determines whether the chambers sit where they are meant to work. A cuff that is too large wastes pressure surface; one that is too small becomes uncomfortable. For your business this means you need a range of sizes that matches your clientele, not just a standard set.
| Type | Covers | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Trousers | Legs up to the hips; depending on cut, also buttocks and abdomen | Inside leg and circumference, fastening system, how quickly clients get in and out |
| Single cuffs | One leg or arm | Flexible for very different body sizes; more parts to clean and manage |
| Full-body suit | Legs, torso and partly arms in one session | Longer on/off time, more size variants needed, more cleaning effort |
Our lymphatic drainage system works with lymphatic drainage trousers. Which additional cuffs or sizes make sense for your location is something we clarify case by case, rather than recommending a maximum package by default.
Chambers: why the number alone decides nothing
Chamber count is the most visible figure in every brochure, and the most overrated. More chambers allow a finer, more even sequence. Whether that is noticeable in practice depends on how the chambers are arranged, whether they overlap and how finely pressure and sequence can be adjusted.
Our system works with 24 pressure chambers. When comparing it with other systems, don’t line up numbers, ask three questions:
- Are the chambers spread across one limb or across the whole set?
- Can pressure, pace and sequence be adjusted per programme, and saved?
- How smooth is the transition between chambers in a test run?
A test run with your team tells you more than any data sheet.

Operation: what your team actually does per appointment
Lymphatic drainage becomes commercially interesting when the session runs largely without constant supervision. Staff time is spent mainly on briefing, fitting and removing. That is why operating logic and programme choice belong in the purchase decision.
The HF system is controlled via a touch display, offers several automated programmes and adjustable intensity levels, and has integrated infrared warmth. What matters for you is whether new staff can work with it confidently after a short briefing.
- Welcome: exclusion questions, briefing
- Fitting: right size, hoses
- Programme: start, timer, rest phase
- Removal: client done, feedback
- Cleaning: per hygiene plan
Cleaning: the underestimated bottleneck
Between two appointments, trousers or cuffs must be cleaned and ready. Which agents are permitted and whether disposable covers are intended belongs in a fixed hygiene plan, not in individual habits. Clarify before buying:
- Which surfaces may be cleaned with what?
- Are disposable covers or clothing under the set intended?
- How long does cleaning realistically take, and who is responsible?
- How are sets and hoses stored between appointments?
If you schedule several appointments back to back, you may need a second set. That is not a sales question but a question of your schedule.
Checklist: comparing lymphatic drainage devices professionally
- Size range matches your clientele
- Chamber layout and settings checked in a test run
- Programmes clear, storable, usable without constant supervision
- Cleaning realistically feasible between two appointments
- Intended purpose clear: wellness or medical device
- Training, service and spare parts (sets, hoses) agreed
- Space for couch, control unit and storage available
HF Concepts Check: how we rate machine lymphatic drainage by facility type
In the HF Concepts Check, we score nine criteria from 1 to 5, always for a specific facility type. The same technology can score strongly in one facility type and only moderately in another. That is exactly the point.
Our assessment after reviewing the technology, based on typical facilities of each type. No guarantee for any individual case.
Wellness & beauty: 37/45; Gym: 35/45; Physio practice: 30/45.
How to communicate machine lymphatic drainage in line with HWG
| Safe to communicate | Avoid |
|---|---|
| Relaxation, feeling of lightness, wellbeing | “treats lymphoedema” or other conditions |
| Procedure: lying down, clothed, around half an hour of rest | “detoxifies”, “purifies” |
| High-quality professional system, not a home device | “cellulite gone in X sessions” |
| Works well in series and packages | “replaces manual lymphatic drainage by a therapist” |
A suitability check before the first session belongs in every professional workflow. If there are health questions, the application should be cleared with a physician beforehand.

How do I compare lymphatic drainage devices for professional use?
By four criteria: fit (sizes, trousers, cuffs, suit), chamber layout and adjustability, operation without constant supervision, and cleaning that is feasible between two appointments. Chamber count alone is not a sufficient benchmark.
What distinguishes a professional device from a home device?
Professional systems are designed for many sessions per day, different body sizes and fast changeovers. That includes a size range, durable materials, reproducible programmes plus service and training.
Are more air chambers automatically better?
No. More chambers allow a finer sequence, but arrangement, overlap and adjustability are what count. A test run is more informative than comparing numbers.
Is machine lymphatic drainage in a studio a therapy?
No. In a studio and wellness setting it is a relaxation application. Treatment of lymphoedema or other conditions belongs with physicians or physiotherapists.
How are cuffs and trousers cleaned between clients?
With cleaning agents approved for the material and a fixed hygiene plan covering disposable covers, drying and storage. We set up this plan with your team during the briefing.
